Pets are not allowed in public buildings or on scheduled Apostle Islands Cruise Service trips (except guide dogs accompanying visually or hearing impaired people).
How do you get to the Apostle Islands?
Island Tours/Shuttles The most popular is the 55-mile “Grand Tour” which travels through the heart of the Apostle Islands archipelago. Trips leave from Bayfield daily from late May to mid-October. Cruises provide views of most of the islands, as well as close looks at dramatic sandstone cliffs and historic lighthouses.

Because of Lake Superior’s power and unpredictability, the National Park Service does NOT recommend the use of small open boats, canoes, open cockpit or sit-upon kayaks, and paddleboards for travel between islands or to the sea caves. A sea kayak is the recommended kayak that should be used in the Apostle Islands.

Can I take my dog to Ipperwash Beach?
Grand Bend’s Main Beach is located 0.5km west of the intersection of Main Street (aka Highway 81) and Ontario Street (also known as Highway 21). Pinery Provincial Park has 9 day-use beaches, two of which are dog -friendly. Ipperwash Beach is accessible from Ipperwash Road and Army Camp Road.
