Greeters perform a rather simple but very important role during our worship services. The primary function of a Greeter is to welcome individuals and to be sure that they receive any bulletins that may be necessary for the day. The entryway to our parish building is rather “tight”, and making sure that the flow of parishioners and visitors doesn’t become bogged down is important. Greeting and “conducting” traffic is a skill that requires a delicate sense of service and solicitude. We are here to welcome and assist people along their spiritual journey. We do not wish to put any stumbling blocks in anyone’s way by being abrupt or insensitive to the immediate needs of those coming to worship.
Greeters also assist in the collection of the offerings of the people during the service and help with the flow of the people as they come forward to receive their communion. Being aware of other’s needs and anticipating who may need a helping hand are characteristics of a good greeter. This is a wonderful way to get to know your fellow parishioners and to offer the gift of hospitality, one of our greatest concerns as servants of Christ’s people. Training is provided, and scheduling is on a rotating basis. Please contact the parish office for assistance in becoming a part of this ministry. 970-586- 4504.
