Confirmation completes the sacramental rites of initiation into the Church. Along with baptism and participation in the Eucharist, confirmation brings the fullness of the graces that the Church offers for those wishing to identify with the Body of Christ, The Church. Normally confirmation is preceded by a period of study and reflection and culminates with the mature decision to embrace one’s baptism and life as a follower of Jesus. The Bishop of the Diocese presides over the rite of confirmation. Services of confirmation are scheduled throughout the diocese at different locations during the year.
Reception is the rite whereby a confirmed individual from another branch of the Church wishes to become a member of the Episcopal Church In The United States. This is not a sacramental rite, but the Bishop receives individuals into the Church during the same service as confirmation.
